Powers Capital Investments Outing

The entire team at Powers Capital Investments in Anaheim Hills took Mille Onde out for the afternoon yesterday. We were lucky to not be affected by the smoke from the fire at Rancho Palos Verdes and had a great couple of hours of sailing around Long Beach. After leaving Rainbow Harbor we made a run across the bay on a broad reach and then decided to duck around the south end of the breakwater. Due to the prevailing winds the team got some practice tacking to make the run back up the outside of the breakwater and back into the bay.

Everyone had a great time and for most it was their first time sailing. The boat performed magnificently and the weather was great. Although it had been hot inland most of the week, once we were on the water it cooled down and was a relaxing afternoon for all.

She Sails!!!!!

We got Mille out of the boat yard late on Saturday and moved to her permanent home at Shoreline Village in Long Beach. After a bit more cleanup (wow are boat yards dirty places) on Sunday, my darling Captain Risa and I got her out for a sail. She jumped up to 6 knots in light wind in Long Beach Harbor - a very sweet ride. Can't wait to get more time out on the water trying the different sail combinations.

Mast Is Getting Ready

Don Holland and the other fine folks at Cabrillo Boat Shop are working hard to get the rigging ready (including finding one halyard that was lost inside the mast during transportation from Seattle) so the mast can be stepped and Mille Onde will be ready to go out for her maiden SoCal voyage.

New Bottom Paint

As of this writing, Mille has new bottom paint and a eye-catching bright red boot stripe. With a little more work to be done while she is on the hard and then they are ready to step the mast and get out sailing. Should be by the weekend

San Diego to Ensenada Race

We are thinking about entering the San Diego to Ensenada race with Mille Onde. There are lots of details like getting a current PHRF rating that have to be handled before the final decision. More later.............................

On the Hard

Mille Onde has arrived in Long Beach. She is on the hard at Cabrillo Boat Works getting a few things done before she is ready to take her maiden SoCal voyage.
